it’s surprising how grubby clean can be
hygiene services you won’t need to second guess

A Conscientious Software Development Company

Situation

Burnside based global software company, Pivot Software was preparing for the return of its 25 staff post the 2020 lockdown and wanted to ensure hygiene in the office was more than skin deep.

They asked 360 Hygiene to conduct a hygiene audit and sanitation service before the majority of workers returned.

The results of the audit surprised the company, given the offices had been vacant for several weeks and only five staff members were present when the tests were conducted.

Pivot’s workplace consisted of a large open plan office, one large unisex washroom with individual cubicles and shared hand basins and a kitchenette/staffroom. The space looked visually clean and they had regular cleaning services three times a week. The company was experiencing 80 days of sick leave per year at a cost of $132,000.

Action Taken

360 Hygiene completed a 24 swab ATP bacterial analysis and of those, there were nine contaminations, five borderline cautions and 10 sanitation passes. It calculated that washrooms were used between 470 to 752 times between cleaning services.  Hand washing rates showed only three people were washing hands correctly, 16 people attempting to wash thoroughly and six people not washing their hands at all.

A fortnightly washroom sanitisation of fixtures and touchpoints began, along with the application of  Nano Shield anti-microbial surface protectant. This kills 99.9% of germs, viruses and bacteria upon contact for 14 days.

  • Paper hand towels to lessen the risk of cross-contamination
  • Hand sanitiser dispensers were installed at high foot traffic areas throughout the office and upon entry to the staffroom
  • Ongoing hygiene audits were implemented every four months and certification to track and maintain hygiene gains made.

Result

Pivot software employees returned to a thoroughly cleaner and more hygenic office. Feeling reassured that the risk of cross-contamination was greatly reduced by the fortnightly sanitation. Four monthly hygiene audits showed improvements and the company regularly passed its ATP swab analysis.

A year on from starting the sanitation services, the company had shaved $41,250 from its annual sick leave costs.  Proving the value of the sanitation services which they continue to implement to this day.
